Abstract

An analog signal processor which is a modified version of the AMPLEX integrated circuit was designed for the inner silicon detector. It has an output voltage swing of more than five and a half volts needed for the dynamic range of 1000 MIPs or 3.8 pC(super 2). The average input charges for triggering purposes are computed by a fast analog summation derived from the neural network principle called follower aggregation. This low-noise CMOS signal processor has a power consumption of 100 mW with an equivalent noise charge of less than 0.13MIP.
