Abstract
- The induction of the lysyl-tRNA synthetase system or LysU, inducible lysine decarboxylase and inducible arginine decarboxylase is temperature-dependent in Escherichia coli when grown in broth to a pH of 5.5 or lower. Coordinate induction of these enzymes, as well as other peptides such as the heat-shock peptides HtpG and HtpM, suggest that these make up part of a stimulon which is induced in a temperature-dependent manner at low pH.
