Abstract

Risk is the possibility that the adverse effect of a chemical will occur, thus, proper risk identification and management is standardized and required especially in the industries handling chemicals. The EPA's risk management approach is discussed as part of its Existing Chemicals Program. The first part focuses on identification of chemicals with significant environmental and health risks while the second part is involved in improving our knowledge on the hazards and exposures to these chemicals.
