Coastal/FPC gas line gets a major customer

Florida's largest natural gas retail distributor, Peoples Gas System Inc, signed a contract to receive 42,000 million cubic ft of natural gas per day when the SunShine Pipeline begins operation in 1995. An additional 25,000 Mcf/d will be added in 1997. Coastal Corp of Houston, TX, owns two-thirds of the pipeline and Florida Power Corp, which will become a 128,000 Mcf/d customer when the pipeline is working, owns one-third. The pipeline became necessary to satisfy Florida's energy and environmental needs.
