Abstract

Clothing manufacturing firms' stocks have been adversely affected by the Leslie Fay Cos accounting scandal and the subsequent drop in its stock price. Liz Claiborne Inc dropped 10.4%, Jones Apparel Group declined 17.3% and He-Ro Group fell 25.5% during that same period. Some analysts put the blame on the Leslie Fay situation, while others believe that it may only be part of the problem.
