Abstract

A study investigates nanoparticle formation and zeolite growth in several tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS)/organocation/water solutions heated at 368 K by using small-angle X-ray scattering. The results reveal that the solutions studied behave dramatically differently from TEOS/TPAOH/water solutions in their ability to nucleate and grow a zeolite phase and all solutions studied form stable suspensions of silica nanoparticles.
