Abstract

The struggle for control of Democratic Republic (DR) Congo's rich resources continues to make peace elusive and children in the Ituri Forest are exposed to the well-armed militias who kill wildlife for bushmeat, ivory, and horn. A young Congolese college graduate describes the beginning of the civil war, when rebel warlord Laurent Kabila's rebel forces brought down the government of dictator Mobutu Sese Seko.
