Colleges rage at technical knockout

Technical colleges in France, 'instituts universitaires de technologie' (IUT), are protesting against the government's decision to create a new technical education colleges offering more prestigious and extensive courses. The IUT directors fear that these new colleges, called 'les insituts universitaires professionnalises,' will lure away IUT's better candidates, reduce resources and lower their reputation, as they will offer longer courses resulting in higher qualification.
