Abstract

Two researchers made studies on the hypothesis that psychotherapy effectively cures or leads to an improvement in neurotic patients. The two researchers made totally separate studies and as such used different methodologies. Reports of their studies led to a parallel outcome which states that a great percentage of neurotic patients improved under custodial care or a general practitioner only. These studies fail to prove the hypothesis but does not necessarily repudiate the possibility of effective psychotherapy. It only means that other treatments are just as effective, if not better.
