Abstract

The application of recently developed quantification methods for examining the effects of ground-level ozone in forest and crop growth is discussed. The yield of wheat reduced by 5 percent and the yield of potato reduced by 10% due to ground level ozone concentrations and climate at the estate Ostads Sateri in southwestern Sweden. The prevailing mean ozone exposure during 1993-2003 was found to be potentially responsible for reducing forest growth by 2.2% and economic return of forest production by 2.6% leading to an annual economic loss of 56 million Euros for Sweden.
