Antimicrobial activity of chitosan films enriched with essential oils

Abstract
- A study was conducted to determine antimicrobial and physiochemical properties of chitosan films and chitosan films enriched with essential oils (EO) in vitro and on processed meat. Results indicated that oregano essential oil exhibited the strongest antimicrobial activity toward L. monocytogenes and E coli O157:H7 compared with other tested essential oils to (oregano EO >> coriander EO > basil EO > anis EO).
