Abstract
- The toxicity of selected Fusarium strains depends on the biological activity of the metabolites they produce. This was based on the results of the investigation done on some Fusarium strains section Sporotrichiella. Results ofbioassays showed that the toxicity of each particular strain tested was due to the metabolites each produced. Major mycotoxins produced were tricothecenes with visoltricin and chlamydosporol as secondary metabolites. Toxicity of each strain was based on its activity against Artemia salina larvae and to the blastogenic response of human and bovine lymphocytes.
