Flexibility of 'polyunsaturated fatty acid chains' and peptide backbones: A comparative ab initio study

The Hartree-Fock and density functional theory methods that were used to study the high flexibility of the polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) chain fragments are described. The similarities and differences of the two types of polymers can enable to understand the folding processes and membrane flexibility.
