Abstract
- Asian business persons are ambivalent about the apparent lack of cohesion in the European Community (EC). Divisions in the EC could make it difficult to resist the influx of relatively cheap Asian imports. On the other hand, these divisions and weaknesses could lead the EC to reconsider its trade policies and this might be detrimental to the interests of Asia. Most Asians believe that the economic and political divisions in the EC might slow the pace of unification, but will not stop it. They prefer a unified Europe because of the advantages of a single market of 320 million prosperous customers.
