Abstract

A study entitled as 'Canadian banks and tax avoidance carried out in tax havens', served as a focus for an attack on banks mounted before the House of Commons finance committee by Bloc MPs Yvan Loubier and Guy Cote. The authors of the study claimed that many banks avoided paying $5.7 billion in tax over the period of 2000-03.
