Abstract

Ongoing research in the design of a 750 GHz Schottky varactor diode for frequency tripling is presented. The tripler, which was developed for use in solid state sources which act as local oscillators, exhibits an output energy of 120 microWatt and an efficiency of 0.8% at a 803 GHz frequency. Its design made use of the theory put forward by N.R. Erickson for submillimeter wave multipliers.
