Theoretical studies of tunneling effect on absorption spectrum of a quantum well with applied electric field

Abstract

A shifted and broadened absorption spectrum from the tunneling of electrons was obtained by observing the tunneling of photoexcited electrons under the influence of electric field in the quantum well. The broadening of the absorption spectrum leads to a decrease in absorption coefficient when the applied electric field is increased. These results give an insight on spectrum broadening and the optimization guideline for detector design.
