Uncertain fate for gas in energy bill

Deputy Energy Sec Linda Stuntz predicts that there will be no natural gas provisions in pending energy legislation before the House and Senate. The House opposes moves in the Senate to eliminate proposed text on pipeline construction and the bypassing of utilities for direct supply of gas to consumers by other distributors. The House favors some restriction on states' rights to pro-rate gas production.
