Abstract
- A gene coding for a putative pyruvate dehydrogenase complex (PDH) in Acholeplasma laidlawii was identified and characterized. The gene was identified from a genomic library by a monoclonal antibody raised against the T2 membrane protein of A. laidlawii. Sequence analysis of the cloned gene revealed the presence of four open reading frames. Homology searches revealed the proteins to be similar to the PDH of Bacillus subtilis and B. stearothermophilus. The putative PDH of A. laidlawii was able to complement PDH-deficient mutants of Escherichia coli.
