Abstract
- Professor GL Peiris, the Sri Lankan government's chief negotiator, believes that the existing peace talks between Colombo and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) are more likely to succeed than previous efforts. Peiris states that there is a general recognition that there is no viable military solution, and in order to resolve the conflict, direct negotiation with the LTTE is necessary.
