Abstract

The photochemistry of Fe(CO)5 is studied in heptane, supercritical (sc) Ar, scXe and scCH4 using time-resolved infrared spectroscopy (TRIR). Direct evidence is provided for the conversion of photogenerated triplet Fe(CO)4 to singlet Fe(CO)4 in conventional and supercritical solution.
