Persistent spectral hole burning studies of europium-doped sodium germanate glass

Abstract: Persistent spectral hole burning is observed in europium-doped sodium germanate glass. It is found that hole-burning efficiency increases by 85% when the glasses are made in a reduced atmosphere, and hole burning is detected even at room temperature.
