Abstract

The participation of lesbian women in the AIDS crisis has been overrated. The reasons for this are in homophobism and the maintenance of the sexist myth that females are more caring than males. Proof is provided by the Shanti Project, whose lesbian volunteers comprise only 12% of the entire corps.
