The politics of European Referendum outcomes and turnout: two models

The EU accession processes for the countries included in the collection are examined and the distinctive features of the set of referendums, particularly the comparatively high levels of Yes vote and low levels of turnout are discussed. The study provides an analytical framework for the collection and more broadly attempts to explain the results and turnout in these and potentially other referendums.
