Abstract: The increase in the importance of sophisticated communications technologies in buildings has resulted in architects employing the services of consultants who specialize in networking, telecommunications and audio/visual systems. Architects and communication consultants must work closely so that the hardware and software components can be blended with the overall design for operational efficiency and reduce the expenses of future upgrades and retrofits.
