Synthesis of ferrite on SiO2 spheres for three-dimensional magneto-photonic crystals

Abstract: The conditions for partially coating SiO2 spheres with ferrite for three-dimensional magneto-photonic crystals are discussed. The ratio of Fe(super 3+)/Fe(super 2+) in the range of 50 percent to 100 percent and the pH value in the range of 8-10 is essential for the synthesis of sphere coated with Fe3O4 fine particles of 20 nm diameter.
