Asymmetric synthesis of 1-aryl-1,2-ethanediols from arylacetylenes by palladium-catalyzed asymmetric hydrosilylation as a key step

A study reports on asymmetric synthesis of 1,2-diols from arylacetylenes by use of the palladium-catalyzed asymmetric hydrosilylation as a key step. This method gives a new efficient and practical route to enantiomerically enriched 1,2 diols prepared from alkenes.
