Abstract

To determine whether the beneficial effect of low-dose amiodarone on survival in patients with complex ventricular arrhythmias after myocardial infarction was dependent on left ventricular (LV) function, results of the Basel Antiarrhythmic Study of Infarct Survival were analyzed. Two hundred twelve patients after acute myocardial infarction with asymptomatic complex arrhythmias were randomly assigned to received amiodarone 200 mg/day or to a control group and followed up for 1 year. Results of mortality and arrhythmic events were related to baseline radionuclide LV ejection fraction.
