Abstract: A healthy 16 year old girl presents to her physician a two day history of sore throat, fatigue, fever and vomiting. In this case, the impatient clinicians initially marginalize the neck-related symptoms, whereas advance tests place the systemic findings into the context of antecedent pharyngitis.
