Abstract

A study on the development of a generalization of the classical Rayleigh models for synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images namely the alpha-stable distribution, which is a popular heavytailed noise Rayleigh-mixture model for radar clutter, is presented. It is used in modeling SAR speckle and belongs to the family of spherically invariant random processes (SIRP).
