Abstract

The actuation mechanism of an electrochemical actuator was understood and associated parameters were determined by investigating the charge transfer dynamics on the surface of single-wall carbon nanotube sheets using in situ Raman spectroscopy. The impact of these findings on the suitability of such material for use in electrochemical devices such as actuators is emphasized.
