Rural governance and local involvement: assessing state- community relations in the Scottish Highlands

The relationships between the new governance agencies and rural communities in the Scottish Highlands are discussed. It is argued that local state agencies must be analysed with wider circuits of power and also agencies and community groups should retain some capacity to influence processes of rural governance.
