Abstract: A novel reagent system, which includes Me3SiN3 and 20 mol percent of Me3SiONO2, enables the conversion of glycals to 1-azido 2-deoxy sugars. The utility of these azido sugars is also applied in the synthesis of 2-deoxy-beta-N-glycopeptides.
