Abstract

Summary. Observations arising from glucose tolerance tests, in which the glucose-induced insulin response as well as the peripheral uptake of glucose and endogenous insulin were measured, are presented. The results indicate significant positive correlations between insulin concentration and insulin uptake, but no consistent relationship between insulin uptake and glucose uptake. In obese subjects an initial decrease in endogenous insulin sensitivity was noted to improve on weight reduction.
