Hundreds left 'homeless'

Many new university undergraduates were victims of accommodation shortages in autumn 2003, with hundreds having to take rooms in hotels, according to the National Union of Students. In Liverpool almost 200 students had to stay in hotels as a result of delays in the completion of a student accommodation block while at the University of Hertfordshire 350 students had to be placed in hotel accommodation.
