Abstract

People who develop West Nile virus infection may develop movement disorders and even partial paralysis similar to polio, according to a study of 16 patients. Fifteen developed a movement disorder and in 11 of these, the symptoms were similar to Parkinson's disease. Three developed symptoms similar to polio, and none of these patients ever completely recovered.
