Allergen avoidance in the treatment of asthma and rhinitis

Abstract: Many parents may have to do more than buy mattress covers that are impermeable to dust mites to help their children who have asthma or hay-fever. Two studies published in 2003 showed that dust mite-impermeable mattress covers were not effective in reducing the symptoms of asthma or hay-fever. Many houses may contain other allergens from cats and other pets, cockroaches, bacteria, and fungi.
