Abstract

Researchers document differences in nerve distribution in the uterus of women with different conditions who had a hysterectomy. In the uteruses of healthy women nerves were evenly distributed. But in women with adenomyosis, there were large areas of the uterus that had no nerves. The uteruses of women with pelvic pain had widespread nerve proliferation of small-diameter nerve fibers.
