Chains of [RE (sub)6] octahedra coupled by (NCN) links in the network structure of Re (sub)2 Cl(CN (sub)2) N. Synthesis and structure of two novel rare earth carbodiimide nitrides with structures related to the RE(sub)2 Cl (sub)3 type

Research has been conducted on RE(sub)2 Cl (sub)3, where RE= La, Ce, and Li (sub)2 CN (sub)2. The authors report that the solid state metathesis reactions between the compounds haveproduced rare earth chloride carbodiimide nitrides.
