Heterocyst-specific expression of patB, a gene required for nitrogen fixation in Anabaena sp. strain PCC 7120

Research has been conducted on patB gene product which is important for Anabaena sp. strain PCC 7120 growth and survival in the absence of nitrogen. The authors report that this gene is expressed in heterocysts and that heterocyst development regulators are expressed in patB mutants via the first round of heterocyst determination.
