Abstract
- Botanicals are at an early stage in regulations and substantial clinical studies, but progress is being made, and the National In stitutes of Health are supplying money for some studies, including one on echinacea at the University of Virginia . Consumers use botanicals as dietary supplements in pill form for the most part, but more and more they are added to snacks, beverages, candy, and nutrition bars . Teas made of herbs thought to have healing properties are widely used. Botanicals discussed includ e gi nseng, ech inacea, black cohosh, and kava. Table lists botanicals with conditions they may help. Companies whose products are discussed include Flora (B urnaby Canada).
