Metodologia de inventário das estatísticas nacionais para o Mercosul

The proposal of organizing a national statistical inventory by the member countries of the Mercosul created the need of establishing a methodology, which would result in the adoption of a common model allowing a global view of the statistical production of these countries. The adopted source was the IBGE Catalog Project, in particular the types of information describing the main caractheristics of investigations and studies. Also defined were the thematic coverage of the survey, the data collection instruments with instructions for completing the forms, and the editorial and printing project of the publication. Argentina and Brazil organized their inventories according to the proposed model. However, it was not possible for the inventories of Paraguai and Uruguai to totally accomodate the methodology. The integrative effort of the four countries made feasible the organization of a valuable information source for the statistical production of the Mercosul, contributing to its comparability and harmonization.
