Abstract

Water is elixir of life but the man has miserably failed to recognize this fact for the future generations. No doubt, India has a variety of lentic and lotic water resources, unprecedented development at all fronts associated with population explosion and mushroom growth of industries causes a rapid deterioration in the quality of aquatic environment. The environment is emerging as multidisciplinary faculty and aquatic environment has gained new dimensions. The present publication has been edited to reflect various aspects of aquatic environment with species emphasis on toxicology.
