Erede indiscusso della tradizione comica quattrocentesca, Francesco Berni (1497-1535) è stato il più importante poeta burlesco del Cinquecento, in un periodo decisivo per la storia e la cultura italiana. A lui si deve l'invenzione di uno stile, presto imitato e chiamato “bernesco”, che avrà ripercussioni sulla poesia comica fino al Settecento. Questo volume, che accoglie le voci di alcuni tra gli studiosi più autorevoli della rimeria burlesca, rappresenta un bilancio aggiornato su Berni e sui suoi epigoni, e allo stesso offre al lettore nuove interpretazioni dei testi, con inediti e significativi momenti della fortuna della poesia bernesca in Italia e in Europa. The undisputed heir to the 15th century comic tradition, Francesco Berni (1497-1535) was the most important burlesque poet of the 16th century, in a decisive period for Italian history and culture. To him we owe the invention of a style, soon imitated and called'bernesco', that would have repercussions on comic poetry until the 18th century.
