Abstract
- Refraction and optics are integral part of teaching and learning of ophthalmology both at under graduate and post graduate level. Knowledge of refraction and optics does not stop just at attaining degree. It remains useful throughout the period of ophthalmic practice. There are many books on the subject. Some are too vast, too comprehend for an under graduate to find it too drab. Some are too brief for post graduates. In the present book an attempt has been made to make optics and refraction interesting and helpful. It will meet the requirement of undergraduate, post graduates, teachers and practitioners. The book has eleven chapters that deal with basic optics and optics involved in ophthalmology. It covers a wide range of topics from physical properties of light to advanced methods of treatment light- Laser, Lasik and other refractive surgeries. Contact lens and low vision aids too have been dealt with due importance. Various conditions of errors of refraction, their physio pathology, signs, syndromes have been discussed. The book is profoundly illustrated with charts, diagrams and photographs.
