What Is Strategy?

This introductory module note to the RC Strategy course, What is Strategy, helps you develop your perspective on what is a strategy, what is a good strategy, and how strategy development differs across contexts. The word strategy has come to have numerous descriptions, leading to confusion as to what it really means. Our first goal in this course is to arrive at a clear and shared understanding as to what strategy means for an enterprise. We define Strategy as follows: Strategy is an integrated set of choices that positions an organization within its environment to achieve its vision over the long term.
