Abstract

The dictionaries of all the major languages with a long lexicographical tradition are generally referenced to the written language, particularly the literary language. The Breton language has a long lexicographical tradition, but the sources of its dictionaries are mixed, so that none of them offers the lexicographer the material which would enable him to specify the register, level and use of a given word. The database presented in this article is intended to fill this gap by indexing terms from a wide range of texts from the Middle Ages to the present day. In this way, it is possible to obtain images of the language according to the period or context of writing.
