Abstract

The inclusion of nanoparticles in technological development increases every year. For example, metallic nanoparticles are applied in cosmetics, medicine, and sensing areas among others. When light interacts with metallic nanoparticles, the Localized Surface Plasmon Resonance (LSPR) can occur. LSPR is the subject of advanced courses in Physics and some of the students could have several difficulties in its comprehension. To benefit the students, it is proposed a very simple simulator built in Python to study the influence of the features of metallic spherical nanoparticles and of the host medium in the LSPR effect through the Mie Theory.
