Abstract

The article describes the efficiency test of contemporary non-metric digital cameras for photogrammetric application. In the test, the high resolution leica format non-metric digital camera Canon Eos 1Ds was compared with the analogue camera Rolleiflex 6006 metric. The single image method based on the projective transformation was applied. The quality and accuracy of the digital camera was estimated from the co-ordinate differences between the same control and detail points captured from the non-metric and metric images, respectively. The results have shown that the digital non-metric high resolution cameras still do not reach entirely the performance of metric cameras, however they can replace metric cameras in certain applications where around 1 cm geometric accuracy with 10-metre objects is satisfactory.
