Abstract

This case report describes a mycotic pseudoaneurysm in an 18-year-old male with no past medical history that presented with progressive sore throat and neck pain. He was initially suspected of having a simple deep neck space infection. However, computed tomography scan and angiography showed a 7-mm mycotic pseudoaneurysm in the distal right internal carotid artery. Given the risk for acute progression, an endovascular covered stent was placed emergently. Mycotic pseudoaneurysms are uncommon in the pediatric population and can complicate abscess management. A team-based approach is essential for successful treatment.
